The founder of our business which began in 1956 was Alfred R. Corkrey. Mr. Corkrey established the business in the Village of Hempstead which when I had been hired in 1975 operated out his house located on Terrace Ave. Hempstead. The property where the house was located was on the west side of Terrace Ave. between 2 - apartment buildings. After Mr. Corkrey had moved out and sold his business to Mr. Edwin R. Terrana, soon after the house had been demolished and now is an empty lot. Mr. Terrana purchased the business from Alfred R. Corkrey in the late 70’s - early 80’s. Ed went on to purchase a property located located at 294 Jerusalem Ave. Hempstead where we are currently located. Corkrey Electric, Inc. under the ownership of Mr. Ed Terrana continually began to grow year after year, adding additional employees, vehicles and equipment. Ed again striding to grow the business had seen the need to relocate our offices from the basement of the building to the 2nd floor of 294 Jerusalem Ave. Ed, always enjoyed building construction and with the help of his staff had constructed new offices located on the 2nd floor of the building which had previously been an apartment. Several years after moving to this location, Mr. Terrana purchased an adjoining property and building which had been a deli and renovated the old deli and made a storage warehouse for our supplies and equipment. Between the 2 - building paving was put down which became our parking lot & yard area. Again in the mid 80’s Ed again seen the need to expand and added on to the 294 Jerusalem Ave. property and constructed a new adjoining building - 300 Jerusalem Ave. which currently houses the offices and a shop area where our vehicles are stored. Corkrey Electric Inc. continued to grow adding new clients, residential customers, businesses, manufacturing plants, fire departments, municipalities, Nassau County Library’s churches & many large custom homes located on the North Shore of Nassau County.

In 2012 Mr. Terrana retired after 30+ years as owner and negotiated the sale of his business and Real Estate to 5 of his long time employees and on July 1, 2012 the new corporation formed known as Corkrey Electric Services, Inc. Corkrey Electric Services continues growing by adding many new clients and keeping many that have been longtime customers.
